Purolator raises 1.5 million pounds of food for local food banks across Canada

January 8, 2018

TORONTO, Jan. 8, 2018 – Purolator is pleased to announce that it has raised the equivalent of 1.5 million pounds of food during the 15th season of its Purolator Tackle Hunger® program.

“We had a truly remarkable year with our Purolator Tackle Hunger program,” said John Ferguson, President and CEO, Purolator. “It was exciting to see how our employees, customers and partners – including the Canadian Football League (CFL) and its fans – came together to raise 1.5 million pounds of food for Canadians. As a leading Canadian courier company, we have been delivering to communities across the country for over 50 years and have seen the positive impact of this program first-hand.”

As a main component of the PTH program, Purolator hosts a series of Game Day Food Drives at nine CFL games and select professional soccer games across Canada. Fans bring non-perishable food items or monetary donations to these games to help support their local food banks.

“We’re so proud of our partners at Purolator and of the impact Purolator Tackle Hunger has had across the country,” said Randy Ambrosie, Commissioner of the Canadian Football League. “Congratulations to Purolator and all of the staff and volunteers who give so generously of their time and energy to make a difference in the lives of their neighbours and fellow Canadians.”

IN addition to the CFL Game Day Food Drives, there are many ways Canadians can get involved in the PTH program:

  • PTH Week: During the first week of June, Purolator employees, customers and partners hold fundraising events across the country to raise food, cash donations and awareness for food banks in their communities as part of PTH Week.
  • Social media: During PTH week, Canadians show their support on Facebook and Twitter. For every “Like/Share” on Purolator’s Facebook page or use of #TackleHunger on Twitter, Purolator donates one pound of food to local food banks across Canada.
  • Online: Throughout the year, Canadians can make online donations to local food banks across Canada at com.

All donations raised through the PTH program supported local food banks in the communities in which they were raised.
