Purolator launches Mississauga’s first Urban Quick Stop

Urban Quick Stop mini hub and Quick Stop Pick-Up parcel lockers at Cooksville GO Station offer sustainable and convenient package delivery options.

May 16, 2023

MISSISSAUGA, May 16, 2023 — Today Purolator announced the opening of its third Urban Quick Stop mini hub, and the first of its kind in Mississauga, Ont. The new Urban Quick Stop, accompanied by Purolator Quick Stop Pick-Up parcel lockers, is located at Cooksville GO Station (3210 Hurontario Street) and serves as a sustainable shipping solution for the surrounding community.

The Urban Quick Stop is a 20-foot shipping container that holds shipments destined for the local surrounding area and uses two electric cargo bikes (e-bikes) instead of trucks to provide a “greener” way to deliver parcels. By using e-bikes to deliver, Purolator will help decrease traffic congestion and reduce emissions by 27 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e) per year.

This initiative also aligns with several actions promoting innovative technologies and alternative fuels initiatives within the City of Mississauga’s Climate Change Action Plan, which will help meet the City’s goal of becoming a net zero community.

"We’ve seen great success with our Urban Quick Stop locations since we launched them in 2022, as they provide an environmentally friendly way for us to deliver to local communities and add more shipping locations for our customers,” said Roger Alouche, Senior Director, Central Region Operations, Purolator. “Our parcel lockers provide consumers with a convenient option to drop off and pick up packages, closer to home, or on their way to and from work.”

The Quick Stop Pick-Up parcel lockers at Cooksville GO Station offer 24/7 access to self-serve parcel delivery services, including drop-offs of return shipments as well as pickups. This provides increased convenience for customers while using GO Transit and also lowers emissions from package delivery and reduces local traffic congestion.

Purolator’s efforts to provide sustainable shipping solutions and increase its fleet of alternative-fuel vehicles is part of the company’s plan to reduce its Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by 42 per cent by 2030 and achieve net-zero by 2050.
