Toronto, Nov. 6, 2015 – As part of the Purolator Tackle Hunger® (PTH) program, Purolator employees, Toronto Argonauts fans and local food bank volunteers teamed up in Toronto today to raise the equivalent of 10,246 pounds of food for Daily Bread Food Bank.
“This year’s Purolator Tackle Hunger Game Day Food Drive raised more than 10,246 pounds of food for Daily Bread Food Bank,” said Patrick Nangle, President and CEO, Purolator. “We want to thank Argos fans for their support in raising food and funds that will help those affected by hunger in Toronto.”
Now in its 13th season, the PTH program raises awareness, food and funds for local food banks across Canada. At one game in every Canadian Football League (CFL) city, Purolator organizes a Game Day Food Drive and encourages fans to drop off non-perishable food items or a cash donation in support of food banks in their communities.
Last year, PTH raised the equivalent of 1.3 million pounds of food.
This year, the program has set a goal to help raise more than 1.4 million pounds of food for Canadian food banks.
“Thank you to Purolator, the Toronto Argonauts and everyone who donated to Daily Bread Food Bank,” said Gail Nyberg, Executive Director, Daily Bread Food Bank. “This support goes a long way to helping fight hunger in our community.”
