“As a company, Purolator is committed to making a difference in local communities across Canada through Purolator Tackle Hunger,” said Tom McMenamon, Purolator’s Operations Director of Atlantic Canada. “We are pleased to donate one of our delivery vehicles to help Grand Falls Regional Food Bank reach the more than 6,000 local families it serves per year.
The new vehicle will replace the food bank’s current delivery van, which is in need of significant repairs, and will more reliably complete its monthly route of 1,200 km to collect and deliver donations.
“Thanks to Purolator’s generous truck donation, we are able to continue our daily mission to help feed those affected by hunger in the Grand Falls area,” said Glenn Rioux, President, Grand Falls Regional Food Bank. “Our new truck will allow us to collect donations from local food drives and businesses, as well as deliver food and furniture to people in surrounding or remote communities who don’t have access to a vehicle.
On average every month, the Grand Falls Regional Food Bank relies on more than 60 volunteers to deliver 1,200 pounds of food to the eight surrounding communities it serves.
