On April 7, 2011, Purolator was presented an Award of Distinction by the Sponsorship Marketing Council of Canada in the Cause category for its’ Purolator Tackle Hunger campaign.
The annual Sponsorship Marketing Awards (SMAs) focuses on rewarding excellence in the strategy and activation of sponsorship marketing. Winning campaigns are held up as models of best practices and sponsorship success in the industry.
“The hard work and incredible support from our Purolator teammates, customers, local food banks, the Canadian Football League, its teams and fans across Canada is directly responsible for Purolator Tackle Hunger’s 2010 results - the highest levels in the history of the program” said Mike Cote, Senior Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer.
Purolator is committed to the fight against hunger. In 2010 a record was set with the equivalent of over 700,000 pounds of food raised, a 29 per cent increase over 2009. To date, over 3.7 million pounds of food have been raised for food banks across Canada.

Hunger is an important issue that affects Canadians across the country. According to Food Bank Canada’s most recent Hunger Count Report, almost 800,000 Canadians visit food banks every month, 37 per cent of whom are children.
