U.S./International Shipping Tips

At Purolator Courier, International Bills of Lading must be completed in full, including all sections under shipper and receiver. Sender's signature is also required.

  • A detailed description and country of manufacture of each item in shipment must be included.
  • Documents must be declared at $1.00 per pound.
  • P.O. boxes are unacceptable to the U.S. Internationally, the only exceptions are some Middle Eastern countries, however, a telephone number is required.

Shipment Value:

  • Shipments to the U.S. valued over $200 USD require a "Commercial Invoice" and an International Bill of Lading. The receiver's IRS/SSN/EIN is required for possible formal entry.
  • Shipments to the U.S. valued over $2,000 USD, must include the receiver's IRS number on the International Bill of Lading. Shipments to a residence will require the receiver's social security number. Failure to comply with this regulation may result in shipment delays.
  • Non document shipments to International destinations require a "Commercial Invoice"
  • Shipments to International destinations valued over $2,000 CDN require a "Commercial Invoice" and an "Export Declaration" (form B-13A) - All forms are available online at www.purolator.com.

Billing

  • Purolator Express and Purolator Ground shipments can be billed prepaid, collect or to a third party Purolator account* *. If you are shipping to a U.S. or international destination, shipping charges must be prepaid or paid by a third party on a valid Purolator account. Shipments to all destinations must include billing instructions on the International Bill of Lading, or the manual waybill, or use an automated shipping solution to automatically generate this information.

Fast Facts

  • Shipments going to Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Guam and Virgin Islands must be shipped via Purolator Express™ air services.
  • Dangerous Goods are shipped via air to the U.S. and must include proper shipper's declaration forms. Dangerous Goods are a restricted commodity to the U.S. via ground mode. Dangerous Goods are also a restricted commodity to all international destinations.
  • Purolator Express U.S. service has a maximum weight restriction of 150 lbs. per piece and 551 lbs . per shipment. Maximum length restriction of 72 " and an overall restriction of 210".
  • Shipments sent via Purolator Ground U.S. have a maximum weight restriction of 150 lbs. per piece and 551 lbs. per shipment. Maximum length restriction of 72 " and an overall size restriction of 210".
  • International shipments sent via Purolator Express International have a maximum weight restriction of 70 lbs. per piece and 200 lbs. per shipment. Maximum length restriction of 60" and overall size restriction of 144".
