Purolator Courier Ltd. and the Teamsters union reach new tentative agreement
MISSISSAUGA, ON, April 30, 2008 – Purolator Courier Ltd. and Teamsters Canada have reached a new tentative agreement for a contract renewal for Purolator’s couriers, package handlers, transport truck drivers and owner/operators across Canada.
The agreement will be presented to the membership for a ratification vote, which is expected to take several weeks.
“It’s business as usual at Purolator,” said Stephen Gould, Senior Vice President, Human Resources for Purolator. “We’re pleased that we were able to work with the Teamsters to resolve the outstanding issues so quickly. With a new tentative agreement our customers can continue shipping with us with confidence.”
“The Canada Council of Teamsters is pleased to have reached a tentative agreement with Purolator,” said Bob Bouvier, President of Teamsters Canada. “The agreement is being unanimously recommended by the bargaining committee. As a result of the tentative agreement there will be no labour disruption.”
The tentative agreement was reached with the assistance of senior officials from Federal Mediation and Conciliation Services.
Business continues to operate as usual at Purolator.
