As Canada’s leading integrated freight and parcel solutions provider with national resources of more than 12,000 teammates, more than 3,000 courier vehicles and the ability to reach almost every destination point in Canada, Purolator is committed to helping alleviate hunger in the communities where it operates. As part of this commitment, Purolator works closely with its teammates, customers and food banks across Canada to collect donations and help raise awareness about the issue of hunger. Since its inception in 2003, Purolator Tackle Hunger (PTH) has helped deliver the equivalent of more than 6.5 million pounds of food to food banks across Canada. According to Food Banks Canada, close to 850,000 Canadians, 36 per cent of whom are children, rely on food banks every month.
In 2013, Purolator exceeded our goal of helping to collect the equivalent of 1.1 million pounds of food in our 11th season of the Purolator Tackle Hunger® program.
The PTH program saw Purolator employees, partners and Canadian Football League (CFL) fans come together to collect over 1.1 million pounds of food for local food banks across Canada. This amount was a 16 per cent increase over the amount collected in the previous season.
As part of the PTH program Purolator has donated 12 refurbished curbside delivery vehicles to local food banks and food organizations across Canada. Last year’s recipients included the Neighbour 2 Neighbour (N2N) Centre located in the Hamilton Mountain community.
